Summary
As the IT Project Manager, you'll play a critical role in supporting our growing Managed IT Services team by leading and coordinating a variety of internal and client-facing technology projects. Your day-to-day work will involve close collaboration with customers, IT engineers, technical support, and client success staff. You'll ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with both client expectations and company goals. You'll take the lead in driving project success, enhancing communication, and aligning service delivery with strategic priorities.
While your primary focus will be on managing infrastructure and service delivery for our Managed IT clients, you will also be responsible for overseeing project components across Focus Solutions' broader suite of products and services-including Conversions, Insights, and other offerings-when they are part of a client's overall implementation. In periods between major Managed IT projects, you may also be assigned to internal or cross-functional projects to support broader business initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of IT infrastructure and managed services projects (e.g., network upgrades, server migrations, cloud deployments, onboarding new clients).
- Act as a liaison between the Managed IT team and Professional Services leadership to ensure project alignment with company goals and client expectations.
- Develop and manage project scopes, timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
- Coordinate across internal departments and with external vendors/partners to manage project tasks and dependencies.
- Maintain regular communication with clients regarding timelines, deliverables, and project updates.
- Track project performance using appropriate tools and methodologies, ensuring high standards of service and satisfaction.
- Identify potential risks and roadblocks, proposing and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including plans, reports, and post-project evaluations.
- Support standardization of project management processes and documentation as the role evolves.
- Collaborate with technical stakeholders to shape project approaches and define solutions, ensuring scope and requirements are well-developed before execution.
- Manage end-to-end delivery of Managed IT projects, including coordination of components from other Focus Solutions offerings (e.g., Conversions, Insights), while also contributing to internal or cross-functional initiatives during periods between major client engagements.
Technical Skills and Tools
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Modern Workplace, Microsoft Server Environments, network architecture and design, and PC/endpoint environments.
- Ability to independently scope and structure technical projects reducing reliance on engineering resources during initial planning phases.
- Background in Managed Service Provider (MSP) operations or client onboarding.
- Experience working with PSA or RMM tools (e.g., ConnectWise)
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks or service delivery models.
- Understanding of cybersecurity, compliance, or data protection protocols.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field-or equivalent work experience.
- 7+ years of experience in IT project management or technical project coordination, preferably in a Managed Services or Professional Services environment.
- Proven experience managing IT infrastructure or support projects (e.g., network, security, cloud).
- Demonstrated technical aptitude and initiative to shape project plans and architectures without requiring full input from engineers at project inception.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills; confident managing multiple projects at once.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills-both technical and non-technical.
- Proficiency with project management tools such as Asana, Microsoft Project or similar.
- Experience with Waterfall and Agile project management frameworks.
